FESRD Presented Academic Programs and Summer Case Study 2027 at Ghent University
05.10.2026
Presentations by partner universities (Partner presentations) were held at Ghent University in Belgium for a newly admitted cohort of students on the International Master of Science in Rural Development (IMRD) programme. As part of this event, representatives of the IMRD consortium took turns to present the range of educational and mobility opportunities available at their home institutions.
Prof. Pavol Schwarcz, Dean of the Faculty of European Studies and Regional Development at SPU in Nitra, spoke on behalf of the university. He outlined the faculty’s academic profile, the range of specialist modules on offer, and the timetable for the summer semester, during which we will welcome a new group of international students arriving from Ghent to the university.
Another key point of the presentation was information about the field-based case study (Case Study 2027), which our faculty has been overseeing and organising for 20 years. This practical component of the programme enables students to apply their theoretical knowledge to addressing real-world challenges in rural development within the Slovak context.
The presentation in Ghent was followed by a discussion, during which the first-year students showed keen interest in studying in Nitra. They were particularly interested in accommodation options in halls of residence, the length of the semester, the teaching process and the structure of the modules offered by our faculty.
