Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence: Moving towards a sustainable European "Green" Policy
20.11.2024The Faculty of European Studies and Regional Development, in cooperation with the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences and the Faculty of Technology, is implementing the innovative project - Centre of Excellence in European Green Deal Policies (Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence). The project is supported by a grant from the European Commission and focuses on the most current areas - European "Green" Policy. Its goal is to bring new educational and research approaches within energy policies, renewable energy sources, and environmental issues, thus becoming an integral part of the European transition to sustainable and green development.
The project, which will last until 2026, has already made significant progress in these first months. On the 18th and 19th of November 2024, a presentation of the GREENPOL project took place within the university, which presented a unique opportunity for PhD students to engage in specialized courses such as EU Energy Policy, Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development and Environmental Nutrition and Health.
Participants of these courses will acquire comprehensive knowledge and skills necessary for evaluating the current situation in the field of EU energy policy. Graduates will be prepared to design effective strategies for national and regional Energy Policies, adapt them to current challenges and acquire professional skills in the field of engineering principles and applications of new energy technologies. The project also covers food system, nutrition and health issues, focusing on innovative research as well as risk management in the food chain.
The goal of the GREENPOL project is not only to provide current scientific knowledge, but also to create a dynamic platform for international cooperation through various events such as workshops, seminars, discussions and scientific conferences. These activities will strengthen the synergy between key areas such as energy, sustainable development and health protection, thereby ensuring high quality education and research.
This project is essential not only for educational institutions, but also for the creation of policies that can fundamentally influence the future of Europe in the field of green transition. Thanks to the cooperation between several faculties and the expert of the project consortium, the way to an in-depth understanding and solution of the environmental and energy challenges Europe is facing today.
Green policy, ecological sustainability and innovation become not only a topic, but also a goal that we can achieve together. This project is an example of how education and research can be combined with practical solutions for our green future.
